One of India's largest private sector power companies, Reliance Power Limited (RPL) currently has three projects worth a total capacity of 6,960 MW under construction. These include two coal based projects, one in Madhya Pradesh and another in Maharashtra, and one gas based project in Andhra Pradesh which is the country's largest gas-based power project. The website carries here, for reference purposes, details of these projects with regards to the project name, capacity and status of development. 8Butibori thermal power plant (600 MW): Steam blowing has been completed for the first 300 MW unit in Maharashtra and the unit is expected to be synchronized in this quarter. 8Samalkot power project (2,400 MW): Two of the gas turbines of the project have been synchronized while two more gas turbines have been tested at full speed no load (FSNL) 8Sasan ultra mega power project (3,960 MW): Boiler hydro test of the first 660 MW unit has been successfully completed. This unit is expected to be commissioned ahead of schedule by December 2012.

IOC-NPCIL JV's 1,400 MW maiden project to go on steam by FY17
The 1,400 MW nuclear power plant of NPCIL-Indian IOC Nuclear Power Corporation Limited, a joint venture between the two PSUs is expected to become commercially operational by 2016-17. Currently, the civil construction of the project is in progress. 8Indian Oil's board has approved 26% (Rs 961 crore) equity partnership for setting up the power plant in Rawatbhatta, Rajasthan. However, it is possible that IOC may acquire 49 percent stake in the proposed joint venture which will own the seventh and eighth unit of the Rajasthan plant of 700 MW each. 8The project is being set up at a total outlay of Rs 12,000 crore, to be financed in the debt-equity ratio of 70:30. 8Notably, the two state-run companies signed an MoU in November, 2009 and formed the JV company in April, 2011.
