Philippines directs gov’t offices, firms to implement energy efficiency measures
Energy audits and random checks will be conducted to ensure compliance.
The Philippine government has issued Administrative Order No. 15 mandating both national and local government offices and government-owned or controlled corporations to speed up the implementation of the Government Energy Management Programme (GEMP).
In a statement, the Presidential Communications Office said the government-wide programme aims to reduce the government’s monthly electricity and petroleum products through energy and fuel conservation measures.

Energy audits will be conducted to ensure compliance with the order, alongside random energy spot-checks and submission of inventory of existing energy-consuming equipment.
Government offices should also abide by the Department of Energy Guidelines on Energy Conserving Design of Buildings and the Philippine Green Building Code for new constructions.
Government agencies were also required to establish a mechanism for energy consumption monitoring.
