National Energy Administration to be restructured
New agency will be responsible for energy regulation.
China will restructure the National Energy Administration to streamline the administrative and regulatory system of the energy sector. The new NEA will integrate the functions of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, which will
be dissolved.
NEA ensures China’s energy needs and works to strengthen the integrated administration of energy industry in concert with the National Development and Reform Commission.
It was established in August of 2008 and replaced the National Energy Bureau that attempted to reform China’s highly dispersed energy management program.
