India calls for swift completion of RDSS projects in Arunachal Pradesh
This was part of the review conducted by the government for the power sector.
Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal has called for the fast implementation of works under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme with the aim of improving the quality and reliability in supply of electricity in India.
This was among the matters discussed during the meeting chaired by the union master to review Arunachal Pradesh's power sector schemes and projects.
During the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chowna Mein assured full support of the power department to Central Public Sector Enterprises for the state’s hydropower projects. He said with joint efforts, the government will complete 13 hydroelectric projects in time.
“This will contribute about Rs. 10,000 crore [$1.20m] per annum to the revenues of the State, thereby raising the per capita income to the level of developed States,” the Ministry of Power said.
He also called authorities to take necessary measures for the early completion of the 2000-megawatt (MW)Subansiri Lower and 2800-MW Dibang Multipurpose Project.
The officials also discussed other matters related to the sector, including improving services for consumers.
