India announces second tranche of green hydrogen SIGHT scheme
Target capacity for this will be 450,000 TPA.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has notified the scheme guidelines for the implementation of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme – Component II: Incentive Scheme for Green Hydrogen Production (under Mode 1- Tranche-II).
Through the programme, India said eyes to expand its green hydrogen production capacity to 450,000 tonnes per annum (TPA). Of this, 40,000 TPA is reserved for biomass-based pathways (bucket-II) and the remaining for technology agnostic pathways (bucket-I).
Solar Energy Corporation of India remains to be the implementing agency for this tranche which will also issue the request for selection, the ministry said.
Authorities said the bidding shall be based on the least average incentive quoted by the bidder.
“The minimum bid under bucket-I is 10,000 TPA while the maximum bid is 90,000 TPA. The minimum bid capacity in bucket-II is 500 TPA and the maximum capacity is 4000 TPA,” the ministry said.
The government said a bidder can participate in any or both buckets. The maximum capacity which a single bidder can allot in this tranche is 90,000 TPA, it noted.
The National Green Hydrogen Mission was launched on 4 January 2023, with an outlay of Rs. 19,744 crores ($2.37m) up to fiscal year 2029-2030. It is seen to contribute to India’s goal to be self-reliant through clean energy.
