Gazipur Solar Panel Plant to start soon
BANECO Solar Energy Ltd, aGerman-Bangladesh joint-venture, will start manufacturing European standardsolar panel in the country very soon.
The company has already set up amanufacturing plant at Gazipur at a cost of Taka 27.27 crore, in effort toreduce country's dependence on import of Solar panel.
A K M Mazibur Rahman, ManagingDirector of BANECO solar said on Saturday that BENECO, an affiliation of JVGThoma GmbH, sister company of Thoma Group of Germany, would assemble solarmodule equivalent to 20MW electricity. "If solar module is re-charged fromsun light for seven hours a day, it will provide light for next seven hours,meaning that BENECO production would be equivalent to 140MW electricity "he added.
German Ambassador to BangladeshDr Albrecht Conze inaugurated the country's first solar module manufacturingplant last month.
Solar Energy expert EngineerGofran Ahmed said, the initiative in the renewable energy sector as a good moveadding that uninterrupted electricity can contribute to alleviate poverty.
Solar irrigation will improvesoil quality also, he said.
BANECO has a plan to manufacturesolar power station in each district, solar irrigation pump and solarstreetlight gradually, he said.
