China vows to raise solar and wind power generation to 16.5% by 2025
The commitments come amidst its pledge to decarbonize the country.
China will raise its solar and wind power generation to 16.5% by 2025, according to the National Energy Administration (NEA).
In its draft plan, the NEA outlined its ambitionn to raise solar and wind power generation by 11% this year from 9.7% in 2020. It will then raise its power generation in the subsequent years until it reaches its goal by 2025.
NEA also urged solar and wind power projects to accelerate construction and asked local governments and power grid firms to guarantee electricity generated from the plants to be able to connect to the grid.
The plan is open for consultation with the public until 25 April.
