Chhattisgarh to get 50% of power from NTPC

Chhattisgarh will get 50 per cent power from the NTPC's upcoming 4,000 MW coal-fired power plant in the Raigarh district.

The state will get 2,000 MW at US$0.0566 per unit from the said plant that will be set up at Lara village.

According to the Indo-Asian News Service, Subodh Kumar Singh, managing director of the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Distribution Company, signed the power purchase agreement on behalf of the state government in the presence of Chief Minister Raman Singh while M.K.V Rama Rao, executive director of the National Thermal Power Corporation or NTPC, signed for his company.

NTPC had signed memorandum of understandings with the Chhattisgarh government in July 2009 for setting up five units each of 800 MW with ultra super critical technology. The Central government has already allocated coal mine for the project that is scheduled to begin power generation in 12th fifth year plan.
