India targets 10GW solar capacity by 2017

According to India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, this is the new cumulative solar capacity target froIndia. To achieve this, the ministry has adopted a slightly different approach in this phase.
For instance, phase-II is not entirely dependent on the bundling scheme, as was prevalent in phase-I, to bring the costs down and will involve a combination of various schemes such as Generation Based Incentive (GBI),
During the next four years, a total of 1,000 MW of rooftop projects are targeted to be deployed at both off-grid and grid connected levels. The power generated by these systems will be utilized to cater to the peak demand of areas that are suffering from severe electricity shortages.
