Haiphong City examines energy use of enterprises

An inspection team from Haiphong City examined 57 key energy enterprises, spreading over 11 districts of the city.

The inspection was to assess the level of energy consumption and the observance of the Law on energy efficiency and conservation.

The team consisted of inspectors from Hai Phong’s Industry and Trade Department, Energy Conservation and Cleaner Production Center.

Most inspected enterprises paid strong attention to the energy savings. In addition to organization of training on the Law on energy efficiency and conservation to employees, enterprises are also paying special attention to investment, innovation and new technology equipment aimed at maximizing multi-use energy efficiency.

In addition, businesses are trying to locate production in off-peak hours. Most office buildings have been using fluorescent bulbs and energy saving compact fluorescent light bulbs and making the most of natural light.

Currently the city has 36 out of 57 designated energy using facilities participating in the energy management training course certified by Ministry of Industry and Trade. 17 out of 57 such facilities have decided to appoint energy managers. However, an energy manager is yet to be able to build a comprehensive energy-saving strategy for the enterprise.

During work, the inspection team sent new legal documents on energy efficiency & conservation and provided information on training, capacity building for staff on energy management to businesses. Enterprises that have yet to conduct energy audits and implementation plans of annual and 5-year energy use, the inspection team also provided advice and registration guidance with Hai Phong Energy Conservation and Cleaner Production Center to get the support.
