Voltalia begins construction of 126 MW Uzbek solar plant

It is part of a multi-energy complex in Khorezm.

Renewable energy firm Voltalia has started the construction of its 126-megawatt Solar Power Plant in Uzbekistan, scheduled to begin operation in the second half of 2025.

In a statement, Voltali said the financing of the Sarimay Power Plant, which will cut around 116,000 tonnes of carbon emission annually, will be led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

It also has a power sales contract won in 2022 with a term of at least 25 years.

The project is part of a multi-energy complex in the Khorezm region with a 50 MW/100 MWh battery storage unit and a 100 MW wind farm under development.

In addition, Voltali also inked a memorandum of understanding for the development of a battery storage complex which will have a capacity of 500 MW/1,000 MWh.
