Vena Energy starts operations of 2 solar projects in Japan

The Kawakami 2 and Aomori 2 solar projects have a total capacity of 56MW.

Vena Energy begins commercial operations of the 31 megawatts (MW) Kawakami 2 Solar Project and 25MW Aomori 2 Solar Project in Japan.

In a statement, Vena Energy said the Kawakami 2 project which spans an area of 49 hectares is located next to the 37MW Kawakami Solar Project which was commissioned in November 2021.

The 31MW project can supply clean energy to around 8,558 local households and reduce about 22,9191 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and save 32 million litres of water annually.

Meanwhile, the Aomori 2 project spanning an area of 47 hectares in Aomori City can power up to 5,680 households, it said in a separate statement.

The plant can reduce up to 15,211 tonnes of greenhouse emissions and save around 21 million litres of water annually.

“With the commissioning of the Aomori 2 Solar Project, we now have 31 renewable energy projects totaling 668 MW in Japan, and we are grateful to our host communities in the Aomori Prefecture for their continued support,” said Juan Mas Valor, Head of Vena Energy Japan.
