Vena Energy, MGreen to build 550-MW Bugallon Solar Power Project
Commercial operations will commence by 2025.
Vena Energy has signed an investment agreement with the Philippines’ MGen Renewable Energy Inc., the renewable energy arm of Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen), for the joint construction of the 550-megawatt (MW) Bugallon Solar Power Project in Bugallon, Pangasinan under 3 Barracuda Energy Corporation.
In a statement, Vena Energy plans to start building the solar project this year. Commercial operations are expected to begin by the end of 2025.
With its 550 MW of direct current capacity, this will be one of the biggest solar power plants in the Philippines, the company said.
“This investment not only brings MGen closer to our goal of achieving 1,500 MW of attributable renewable energy by year 2030, but also deepens our partnership with like-minded organisations who believe a sustainable energy future is a collective responsibility of everyone,” MGen President Manny Rubio said.
