Thailand awards 436MW wind projects to Acciona Energia, The Blue Circle
The power will be sold to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.
Thailand’s Office of Energy Regulatory Commission has awarded a power purchase deal with Acciona Energia and The Blue Circle for the construction of five wind projects with a total capacity of 436 megawatts (MW).
In a statement, Acciona Energia said the generated power will be supplied to the state-owned Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand through a 25-year power purchase agreement.
The first project will start construction in 2024 with the completion of each staggered from 2026 to 2030.

Of the project, four will be located in the Northeast provinces of Ubon Ratchatani and Amnat Charoen, whilst one will be in Chaiyaphum.
The five wind farms can generate 1,141 gigawatt-hours of electricity. It will cut carbon dioxide emissions by 645,000 tonnes annually, equal to removing 250,000 cars from circulation.
