Taiwan’s Formosa 2 Offshore Wind starts operation

The wind farm can supply power to around 380,000 households per year.

The 376-megawatt Formosa 2 Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan has started operation, Japan’s JERA Co. said in a statement.

Formosa 2 is composed of 47 wind turbines and can provide electricity to around 380,000 households annually.

“The realization of commercial operations for Formosa 2 represents a triumph of collective effort, and unwavering resilience. Throughout our deep involvement, JERA has built a diverse and experienced team with strong expertise in the offshore wind market," Nathalie Oosterlinck, Managing Executive Officer, the Head of Global Renewable Energy at JERA, said.

"Building on this foundation, we anticipate expanding our renewable energy activities and projects across worldwide including Asia,” she added.

The wind farm is jointly developed by JERA, which holds the largest share in the project, Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group and Synera Renewable Energy.
