Tachibanawan Thermal Power Plant unit to restart by February 2025

This is due to a crack seen in one of the steam pipes.

Unit 1 of the Tachibanawan Thermal Power Plant is expected to resume operation at the end of February 2025 as the restoration of a cracked pipe is undergoing.

In a statement, the Electric Power Development Co, Ltd. (J-Power) announced the suspension of the operations of the unit on 14 March, following the crack observed in a part of the high-temperature reheat steam pipe.

The cause of the crack is still under investigation, said J-Power.

The incident is expected to result in a $115.5m (JPY18b) impact on the consolidated operating income for the current fiscal year due to restoration costs and a decline in sales.
