Sunseap closes deal for solar systems with 62 MW capacity

Energy generated will amount to 80 GWh yearly.

Singapore-based solar energy provider Sunseap has entered into a long-term agreement with Amazon to supply 62 MW of clean energy to the national grid.

According to a media release, Sunseap was given one of two contracts under JTC’s SolarLand Phase 3 tender in 2020, which will see Sunseap installing solar systems on approximately 40 ha of vacant land across Singapore.

“Unlike conventional fixed designs, these systems are designed to be modular and flexible, and can be redeployed when the land is needed for other uses,” the release added.

The power generated from the solar systems would equate to 80 GWh of clean energy annually, to be supplied to Amazon and help the multinational technology company achieve its commitment to 100% renewable energy.

Expected to be completed in 2022, the solar systems would be “largest aggregated mobile solar systems designed and installed in Singapore”.
