South Korea’s 532 MW offshore wind project gets EIA approval
The project is targeted to begin construction in H1 2024.
The 532 megawatts (MW) Anma Offshore Wind project has completed the final Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in consultation with the South Korean Ministry of Environment after 15 months.
In a statement, Anma Offshore Wind said that it is expected to join the upcoming Renewable Portfolio Standard auction later this year.
Jake Cho, project CEO and representative director, said the completion indicated a significant milestone as it is the first utility-scale offshore wind project in the country to achieve such.

“We expect to complete the remaining development works in the coming months and have the Project be in a position to reach financial close in Q1 2024,” he said.
The project located next to Anma Island in Yeonggwang Municipality in South Jeolla Province is expected to start construction in the first half of 2024.
