South Korean consortium to bid for 2 nuclear projects in Europe

Projects with over 1,000MW capacity will be offered by Czech Republic and Poland.

South Korean engineering companies Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (DHI) and Daewoo Engineering & Construction (Daewoo E&C) will take part in a bid led by Korean state-run energy company Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Corporation (KHNP) for the construction of two power plant projects in Czech Republic and Poland. The consortium will also include Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco), Kepco Engineering & Construction Corporation and Kepco Nuclear Fuel Corporation.

Poland plans to build two 3,000 MW of power nuclear plants in Choczewo-Gaski and Zarnowiec, while the Czech Republic intends to construct Temelin unit 3 and 4 of 1,000 MW each. Both countries are expected to select their respective preferred bidders by the end of 2019 and the construction could start as from 2021.
