
Solar power seen as the future for Bangladesh
Solar energy is the future of Bangladesh in resolving its energy shortage, according to German Ambassador in Bangladesh, Dr. Albrecht Conze.
Hewas speaking during the the inaugural ceremony of BANECO, a German-Bangladesh solar module assembling factory, as the chief guest at Emmanuelle’s Banquet Hall, Gulshan-1, in Dhaka.
BANECO Solar Module manufacturing factory is an affiliation of JVG Thoma GmbH, Thoma Group of Germany to assemble high quality, more efficient and European Standard Solar Modules in Bangladesh.
Dr. Albrecht said the initiative is positive step towards meeting the country’s demand for electricity, adding that energy efficiency is key to reducing poverty.
"Ensuring electricity 24 hours in each and every house in the country should be the only policy,” said Chairman of BANECO, Chowdhury Mugis Uddin. “BANECO has a furure plan to export locally manufactured solar model beaides meeting the local demand,” he hoped.
“We want to suppliment the government’s efforts in turning Bangladesh into a energy-efficient country through utilization of untapped renewable energy. Quality is the main factor since a product has to sustain 25 years, " said AKM Mazibur Rahman,Managing Director of BANECO Solar Energy Ltd.
