SK ecoplant, Nami Solar partner for 250MWp solar project in Vietnam

The rooftop solar installation has a total investment of $200m.

South Korean conglomerate SK Group, through its green investment arm SK ecoplant, and Nami Energy affiliate, Nami Solar entered a partnership for the development of 250 megawatt-peak rooftop solar installations in Vietnam.

In a statement, Nami Energy said the collaborative venture for Vietnam’s distributed solar energy has a total investment of $200m over the next few years.

Nami Energy Chairman Luu Hoang Ha said SK ecoplant will contribute to the partnership through its “significant financial and technical attributes,” whilst Nami Solar has the “solid local platform, industry insight and experienced management team.”

“We are excited to play our part in building a low-carbon future for Vietnam. The distributed solar energy solutions offered by our joint venture are efficient measures for local businesses, many of them Korean investors, helping them meet their green energy demand as well as making savings on their electricity bills,” Luu said.

Casey Jung, vice president and head of Renewable Energy at SK ecoplant said the partnership with Nami Solar will help Vietnam in its carbon emission targets and energy transition.

The partnership will also support SK ecoplant’s aspiration to be a major global investor in renewable energy and Nami Solar’s plans to become a leading distributed solar company in Vietnam, Nami Energy said.
