Sembcorp and partners to ship green ammonia from India to Japan
Green ammonia will be produced in India.
Sembcorp Green Hydrogen Pte. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, has signed a heads of terms with Kyushu Electric Power Co. Inc, Sojitz Corporation, and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) for the export of green ammonia from India to Japan.
In a statement, project lead Sembcorp said it will produce competitively priced green green ammonia in India. NYK, meanwhile, will handle the maritime transportation to Japan.
Sembcorp said it currently has 4.7 gigawatts of renewable energy portfolio in India.
“The front-end engineering and design work for the green ammonia plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, has commenced,” Sembcorp said.
Sembcorp does not expect the agreement to have a material impact on its earnings per share and net tangible assets per share for the financial year ending 31 December 2024.
