Saudi Power Procurement Company signs deal for 8400 MW power plant projects
The projects will help supply power for 3.5 million residential units annually.
Independent firm, Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC), inked power purchase agreements for 8400 MW power plant projects apart from the expansion of the Rabigh Power Plant Project.
According to a statement, the projects are the Taiba and Qassim Power Plant Projects at 3600 MW per site and the Rabigh Power Plant expansion Project within the existing Power Purchase Agreement signed with the Saudi Electricity Company.
Under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy, SPPC signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for the Taiba 1, Taiba 2, Qassim 1, and Qassim 2 Independent Power Plants (IPP) with a capacity of 1800 MW each.
“The PPAs for the Taiba 1 & Qassim 1 IPP with a total capacity of 3600 MW, were signed with a consortium consisting of the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) as a Managing Member, and ACWA Power as Technical Member,” read the statement.
The PPAs for the Taiba 2 & Qassim 2 IPP with a total capacity of 3600 MW, were inked with a consortium consisting of Al-Jomaih Energy and Water Company as Managing Member, EDF as Technical Member, and Buhur for Investment Company as Consortium Member.
The projects will contribute to supplying power to around 3.5 million residential units yearly.
