Saudi Power Procurement Company opens bids for four 7.2 GW CCGT plants in Saudi Arabia

Each power plant has a capacity of 1.8 GW.

The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has opened bids for the development of four combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) independent power plant projects, all with a capacity of 7.2 GW.

The projects are situated over two power plants, Rumah-1 and Rumah-2, in the central portion of Saudi Arabia. And two others, Nairyah-1 and Nairyah-2, are located in the eastern region of the country. All four projects are designed with natural gas combined cycle technology.

Each power plant has a generation capacity of 1.8 GW.

Since 2021, gas-fired generation accounted for 45% of the installed capacity in Saudi Arabia for about 41 GW (second after oil with 54%) and 57% of the power generation in the country (while oil with 42%).
