Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power secures land for 10GW Egypt wind project

The project is expected to generate 50,000 GWh of electricity annually.

ACWA Power entered a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority for the allocation of land for a 10-gigawatt (GW) wind project in the African nation.

In a statement, ACWA Power said the MOU reserved land around 3,000 square kilometres of land west of the urban centre of Sohag.

The project can generate 50,000 GW-hours of clean energy annually, meeting the needs of around 11 million households. It can mitigate the impact of 25.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
