Saudi Arabia launches 4.5 GW solar, wind tender
These are under the National Renewable Energy Program.
The Saudi Power Procurement Company is seeking bidders for 4,500 megawatts of solar and wind projects across Saudi Arabia.
This is the sixth round of the country’s National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) which is led and supervised by the Ministry of Energy.
The projects under this round are:
- 1,500 megawatt alternating current (MWac) Dawadmi Wind IPP to be located in Riyadh province, KSA
- 1,400 MWac Najran Solar PV IPP to be located in Najran province, KSA
- 600 MWac Samtah Solar PV IPP to be located in Jizan province, KSA
- 600 MW Ad Darb Solar PV IPP to be located in Jizan province, KSA
- 400 MW As Sufun Solar PV IPP to be located in Hail province, KSA
The NREP aims to achieve the optimal energy mix and supply 50% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030.
To date, SPPC has awarded over 19 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity under NREP.
