Reliance to commission 300 MW wind capacity

Reliance Power plans to establish 300 MW of new wind capacity in India within a year.

 

This includes the 100 MW solar CSP in the state of Rajasthan and the 200 MW Vashpet wind power plant in Maharashtra.

The company plans to commission 45 MW capacity of the Vashpet project by September 2012. Land acquisition for the plant is in progress and RPL has acquired 55 ha for about 37.5 MW capacity.

Construction activities for 10 MW has been completed and is currently in the testing phase.

A $25 million has been sancioned for the project as an ECB facility from Axis bank and is in discussion with other bankers for the balance funding required for the project.

On the other hand, the 100 MW solar CSP in Maharashtra is on track to be commissioned by May 2013. All the major contracts for the project have been awarded and the entire land of 340 ha is under the company's possession.

AREVA will provide the solar field technology supply to RPL's solar plant and the plant will share switchyard and transmission facilities with the 40 MW solar photovoltaic plant.
