
Punjab enters into agreement with ZTE Solar China
Chinese firm to build 500 MW solar plant.
ZTE Solar China will build within a year a solar power plant in Punjab’s Cholistan area already designated a solar power corridor. The plant will initially generate 300 MW power and its capacity will be enhanced to 500 MW later on.
A delegation from ZTE Solar China called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to discuss prospects of investment in the solar energy sector in Punjab.
Sharif said that ZTE Solar China should consider setting up a 500 MW solar energy project in Punjab and also present a financial model. He said a team headed by the energy secretary should evolve a strategy for cooperation with ZTE Solar China.
He noted that China was producing 48,000 MW of electricity from solar system and Pakistan also wanted to benefit from Chinese expertise and experience in the sector.
ZTE Solar China President Yu Yong said his company had expertise in the solar energy sector and was interested in cooperation with Pakistan, especially Punjab, and a strategy would be finalized with the consultation of the concerned officers.
