Ocean Winds, Ulsan partner to develop South Korean floating offshore wind project

The KF Wind project has a total capacity of 1.2 gigawatts.

Offshore wind developer Ocean Winds (OW) and the Ulsan Metropolitan City signed a Letter of Intent to strengthen their cooperation in developing the 1.2-gigawatt KF Wind floating offshore wind energy project in South Korea.

In a statement, OW said Ulsan with cooperate with the company to develop, operate and maintain the wind project, whilst it committed to constructing the project by 2030 and cooperating for technology transfer, manpower training and job creation in the Metropolitan City.

The partnership will contribute to Ulsan’s strategy to be the country’s first Specialised Zone for Regional Energy Decentralisation.

It was signed by Ulsam Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom and OW CEO Bautista Rodriguez Sanchez.

KF Wind Project is a joint venture between OW which holds a 66.7% stake, and Mainstream Renewable Power with a 33.3% share.
