NTPC unit, Arunachal Pradesh gov’t to develop hydroelectric projects

The projects have a total capacity of 2,620 MW.

North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC signed a memorandum of agreement with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh for the development of 2,620 megawatts of hydroelectric projects.

In a statement, NTPC said the partnership will support India’s goal of achieving 500 gigawatts of non-fossil-energy capacity by 2030 and reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.

In addition to their environmental benefits, these hydro projects hold great promise for the region's economic growth,” NTPC said.

It added that the hydropower projects will create employment opportunities which will improve the local economy and develop the local population’s technical expertise.
