NEEPCO to execute 10,425MW hydel projects in Arubachal Pradesh
Union power minister Veerappa Moily wants to give state-owned firm NEEPCO a chance to execute 10,425 MW of power projects in Arubachal Pradesh.
Eager to fast-track hydel development in Arunachal Pradesh, he has urged AP Chief Minister Nabam Tuki to allot the projects to NEEPCO.
Moily pointed out that NEEPCO is at an advantageous position to develop untapped potential in the state since 90% of the company's workforce is from the north eastern region and are well-versed with its topography and culture.
He also highlighted some of NEEPCO's significant achievements, including execution of the biggest 405 MW Ranganadi HEP in the north eastern region.
Moreover, the central public sector enterprise is well on its way to construct two more projects -- 600 MW Kameng HEP and 110 MW Pare HEP -- within the state.
Among the projects in Arunachal Pradesh under consideration for execution by NEEPCO are the 6,000 MW Siang Upper Stage-I project, 3,750 MW Siang Upper Stage-ll project, 165 MW Etabu project, 60 MW Panyor project, 120-170 MW Gatte project and 330 MW Kameng-I project.
