Mingyang and BASF get approval for 500 MW offshore wind farm

The project is expected to start operations by 2025.

Mingyang Smart Energy and Germany-based chemical producer BASF received project approval from China for the 500-megawatt offshore wind farm they are co-developing.

With the approval, BASF said the joint venture Mingyang BASF New Energy (Zhanjiang) Co., Ltd., will continue the progress for the development, construction, and operation of the wind farm.

The majority of the project generated from the power plant will be supplied to the BASF Zhanjian Verbund site.

BASF is developing the site as a lighthouse project for sustainable development in the global chemical industry.

The joint venture is 90% owned by Mingyang and 10% by BASF.
