Mighty River gets approval for NZ wind farm
Mighty River Power has received permission to construct and operate a wind farm at Turitea, New Zealand.
The draft decision of the Board of Inquiry allowed MRP to set up 61 turbines, with an installed capacity of around 180MW.
Earlier, MRP had sought permission to build 105 turbines with an installed capacity of around 300MW.
MRP said it will have to build the wind farm at Turitea in less than two years, subject to the final decision by the Board of Inquiry.
Mighty River Power general manager for Development Mark Trigg said the draft decision removes uncertainty around the project and allows the company to move forward with assessing detailed technical and commercial considerations for the draft wind farm consent.
