KHNP completes 20 MW Pohang Energy Park
Over $73m was provided to fund the project.
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), a subsidiary of the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), has reached completion of the Pohang Energy Park, the energy subgroup’s first-ever fuel cell power plant.
In a statement, the company said the power generation facility located in the Blue Valley Industrial Complex in Pohang City, has a projected generation capacity of 19.8 megawatts.
Around $73m (96b KRW) was provided to finance the project. The project also consisted of 45 440-kilowatt (kW) fuel cells, estimated to generate over 160 million kWh of electricity yearly and supply over 33,000 households.

“Starting with Pohang Energy Park, KHNP will secure fuel cell operation and maintenance technology to increase the competitiveness of the fuel cell business and take the lead in contributing to the improvement of fuel cell technology together with suppliers,” Hwang Joo-ho, CEO of KHNP, said.
