KEPCO optimistic on power distribution program results
The Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) is optimistic about the results of a program it has implemented for stable distribution of power supply with the purpose of enhancing power supply reliability.
The program aims to reduce by 10 percent the number of power outage accidents beginning the winter season up to 28 February compared to the start of the previous winter season. It includes public relations activity and intensive inspection on distribution lines to prevent damages from power outage to the customers who grow crops for special purposes or run fish farm. The plan also targets the prevention of forest fires through special maintenance of the distribution line near forest areas and the inspection and repair of aerial cables.
KEPCO has also operated a prompt restoration program against power outage due to heavy snow and an around- the-clock emergency restoration program against sudden power outage of customer facilities in apartments. Also included in the plan is the retrenchment of the budget by expanding direct management of activities for prevention of faults by birds and to reduce 150,000 KRW per each unit by establishing a low-cost system for cable theft alarm.
