JERA and INPEX launch joint study on Japan-Australia CCS

They will capture and transport JERA’s emissions to Australia for storage.

Japan’s JERA will be conducting a preliminary joint study with INPEX Corporation to develop a carbon capture and storage (CCS) between Japan and Australia.

In a statement, JERA said the partnership will examine the feasibility of separating and capturing JERA’s carbon emissions in Japan and transporting it to Australia for underground storage.

The study will cover the entire value chain, including transport methods and shipping/receiving conditions.

JERA aims to achieve net-zero carbon dioxide emissions in its operations by 2050, with CCS as one of the techniques.
