J-POWER subsidiary upgrades Nikaho Kogen Wind Farm

It is now composed of 6 turbines with 4.3 MW output each.

J-Wind Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Electric Power Development Co. (J-POWER), upgraded the Nikaho Kogen Wind Farm with a total capacity of 24.75 megawatts (MW).

In a statement, J-POWER said the New Nikaho Kogen Wind Farm which started operations in December 2001 initially had 15 wind turbines with 1.65 MW output each.

Now it has six wind turbines with individual output of 4.3 MW.

“The site started operation as the New Nikaho Kogen Wind Farm, and will continue to use the impressive wind resources in this location, which is blessed with favourable conditions throughout the year, whilst coexisting with the local community,” the company said.

The operation of the wind farm in Nikaho City in Akita Prefecture brings J-POWER’s wind power generation business in the country to 29 locations with a total capacity of 766.2 MW. Of the projects, 24 are in operation, three are under construction, and two are planned for facility upgrades.
