
India's solar capacity hits 13.6GW
Over 80% of the capacity is in seven states.
According to the Ministry of Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy and Mines of India, the installed solar capacity in India reached 13,652 MW at the end of July 2017.
Enerdata said that more than 80% of the capacity is concentrated in seven states: 2,049 MW in Andhra Pradesh (15%), 2,023 MW in Rajasthan (15%), 1,697 MW in Tamil Nadu (12%), 1,609 MW in Telangana (12%), 1,262 MW in Gujarat (9%), 1,261 MW in Karnataka (9%), and 1,117 MW in Madhya Pradesh (8%).
India has set a target of 100 GW of solar capacity in 2022, including 40 GW from solar rooftop capacity and 60 GW from ground-mounted projects.
