
India's Jharkhand to get 2 Ultra Mega Power Plants
Power Finance Corporation has submitted a project feasibility report and other requisite documents for setting up of the second Ultra Mega Power Plant in Jharkhand.
The documents submitted with the Ministry of Environment and Forests will specify the terms of reference for environment impact assessment studies.
MOEF officials confirmed receipt of application from PFC’s project specific wholly owned subsidiary named Deoghar Mega Power Limited on October 16, 2012. The 4,000-MW UMPP would be situated at Husainabad located in the Deoghar District of Jharkhand State.
The total power generated from the power plant using coal from captive coal block will be procured by various groups, which are being identified by the union power ministry, it adds.
The first UMPP in Jharkhand is to be located Near Tilaiya village in Hazaribagh and Koderma Districts, Jharkhand. Tilaiya UMPP Project was awarded and transferred on August 7, 2009 to Reliance Power. But the construction of the plant is held up as the land has not been handed over to the developer.
