India's first solar-wind hybrid tender undersubscribed by 150MW

It ended with the lowest tariff of 3.79 cents per kWh.

The first mega solar-wind hybrid auction in India by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) ended with the lowest tariff of 3.79 cents per kWh, Mercom India reports.

The tender was originally at 2,500MW of ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects and then reduced to 1,200MW. The tender was undersubscribed by 150MW, forcing SECI to auction only 80% of the capacity at 840MW.

Adani Green had initially bid to develop 600 MW, but in the financial round later, it reduced the bid size to 390 MW.

According to SECI general manager Sanjay Sharma, SB Energy quoted the L1 tariff to develop 450 MW of wind solar hybrid projects whilst Adani Green quoted 3.82 cents per kWh to develop 390 MW of wind solar hybrid projects.

The report added that SECI had changed the tender’s maximum capacity from 500MW to 600MW and its ceiling tariff has been cut from 4.16 cents per kWh to 3.69 cents per kWh and then raised to 3.84 cents per kWh.
