Indian state of Gujarat to promote solar power

Gujarat Energy Development Agency will sign MoUs with several solar project developers.

The agency will scrutinise proposals based on developers' financial and technical capabilities.

Welspun Energy, Virat, Phoenix, Unicorn, Agrawal Infratech and Paragon are some of the project developers that will ink MoUs with government of Gujarat.

Welspun Energy co-founder Vineet Mittal said that he wants to expand company's presence in Gujarat and will sign MoUs for 100 MW. Among others, Adani and Essar groups too are expected to strengthen their presence in solar power in Gujarat in days to come.

Gujarat is expected to offer close to Rs 2.64 per unit to solar project developers who will draw addition revenues from trade of their renewable energy certificates.
