Experts said India needs to recognize the escalating costs of energy and work towards adopting technologies that will reduce energy consumption and its dependence on other countries for energy sources.
Krishan Dhawan, chief executive officer, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, said that energy security and access to energy were among the two major challenges facing India and its focus must be on technologies that enhance efficiency.

Shakti recently undertook an activity to develop a series of seminars that provide comprehensive information on energy savings options, techno-economic feasibility, future technologies, possible reduction in energy consumption and emissions, and marginal cost abatement curves.
