India opens tenders for 2GW wind power projects

Ceiling tariff has been set at US$0.046 per unit.

The Indian government has floated tender for 2,000MW of wind power projects linked to the inter-state transmission system, in efforts to hit the 60GW wind energy capacity target by 2022. The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) would ink a 25-year PPA with winning bidders and sell the energy to distributors.

The maximum tariff has been set at US$0.046 (Rs2.93) per unit. Minimum capacity available for bidders is at 50MW whilst the ceiling capacity is at 300MW. Land acquisition, development permits, and other infrastructure linked to connecting the project to the electricity grid would fall on the shoulders of the developer.
