India to dominate pipeline projects in Asia until 2028
It has 62 pipeline projects, around half of which were for gas.
India is expected to lead the number of trunk/transmission pipeline projects from 2024 to 2028, with 62 projects that are expected to start operations during the period, accounting for 43% of the total projects in the region.
In a report, GlobalData said 48.4% of the 62 projects are gas pipelines, followed by product pipelines at 40.3% and oil pipelines at 11.3%.
Bhargavi Gandham, Oil & Gas Analyst at GlobalData, said these projects will include around 29,800 kilometres of length additions.

“The pipeline development helps the country to enhance its energy infrastructure and meet the growing demand for petroleum from the industrial, domestic, and transportation sectors,” Gandham said.
Some of the projects that will come online include GAIL's India’s Jagdishpur-Haldia Phase II 1,900-kilometre pipeline, the largest upcoming gas pipeline project. GSPL India Gasnet will also deploy the 1,843 km Mehsana-Bhantinda gas pipeline.
