India commissions 750MW solar project in Madhya Pradesh

It is operated by a joint venture between SECI and MPUVN.

The Indian Prime Minister has inaugurated the 750MW Rewa solar project in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. The solar complex was developed in three projects of 250MW over 1,500 hectares of land, which required investments amounting to $860m.

The facility is operated by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL), a joint venture of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam (MPUVN). The power will be bought by the Delhi Metro Railways Corporation and the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company. The first-year tariff has been set at Rs2.97/kWh (US$3.95c/kWh) over the 25 years of the contract.
