HEXA Renewables, Ciel & Terre Taiwan complete floating solar project expansion
It is part of the Changbin floating solar project.
Renewable energy platform HEXA Renewables, and Ciel & Terre Taiwan concluded the additional floating solar (FPV) capacity project of around 192.3 megawatts-peak within the Chanbin industrial zone.
In a statement, Ciel & Terre said the Changbin #3 and #4 extensions started construction in October 2022 and achieved their first commercial operation date in October 2023, occupying over 171 hectares of water surface area.

“ The area is considered one of the most challenging for FPV due to the twice-a-day tidal changes in seawater environment with occasional typhoons, all of which have been taken into account in the FPV project design,” the statement read.
The 2020 Changbin floating solar project could generate around 260 gigawatt hours of electricity and meet the power needs of around 65,000 households, whilst reducing 138,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
