GAIL inaugurates 10 MW green hydrogen plant

The plant can produce 4.3 tonnes of hydrogen daily.

GAIL (India) Limited has launched its first green hydrogen power plant with a capacity of 10 megawatts.

In a statement, GAIL said the power plant, located in Madhya Pradesh could produce 4.3 tonnes of hydrogen per day through electrolysis of water using renewable energy.

The hydrogen produced shall have a purity of 99.999% by volume, produced at a pressure of 30 kilograms per square centimetre.

The hydrogen produced will be used as fuel along with natural gas for captive purposes in different processes and equipment in the existing plant at Vijaipur.

GAIL added that the hydrogen is also planned to be distributed to retail customers nearby, delivered through high-pressure cascades.

The company is also developing around 20 megawatts of solar projects in Vijaipur, both ground-mounted and floating, to be used by the green hydrogen plant.
