FRV’s hybrid solar-storage project starts operating in Australia

This services over 1,600 households.

Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) Australia announced the operation of its first hybrid solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) project in Dalby, Queensland.

In a statement, FRV said the facility consists of 2.45 megawatts direct current solar PV and 2.54 megawatts/5 megawatt-hours BESS. It occupies 30 hectares and is one of the first in the country to combine PV power generation with a battery system sharing the same point of connection to the national grid.

The Dalby project is expected to supply power to more than 1,680 households, whilst cutting 3,553 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

“Dalby’s connection into the grid is another great milestone for FRV Australia. As our first Australian hybrid project, we look forward to leveraging the learnings to continue to grow our Australian portfolio and continue to support the transition of the Australian energy system,” said Christopher Curtain, senior managing director, Asia Pacific at OMERS Infrastructure.

FRV Australia is part of Jameel Energy and the Canadian infrastructure fund OMERS.
