EGAT, Shell partner to develop clean energy technologies
They aim to study CCUS development and alternative fuels for electricity generation.
The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Shell Company of Thailand for the development of clean energy technologies including carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS).
In a statement, EGAT said the cooperation will also include the study on the use of hydrogen and ammonia as alternative fuels for electricity generation.

“These technologies will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the context of Thailand that still depends on fossil fuels for electricity generation to maintain energy security and meet the national power demand,” the company said.
EGAT implements strategies to support Thailand’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero emissions by 2065 through increasing the renewable energy share in the generation mix and the development of new technologies to so support the generation, amongst others.
