EGAT partners with 5 Japanese firms for carbon reduction tech development

This includes clean hydrogen and BESS.

The Electricity Generation Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has entered a partnership with five Japanese companies in a bid to develop clean energy technologies including clean hydrogen and battery energy storage system (BESS) to support the country’s carbon neutrality goals.

In a statement, EGAT said it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (Thailand), Chiyoda Corp, and Mitsubishi (Thailand) to explore and develop full-cycle clean hydrogen and ammonia.

Another MOU was signed with TTCL Public Company for biofuel production technologies development. For the development of BESS technologies, EGAT entered an agreement with IHI Corporation.

“The cooperation under these three MOUs will enable technology exchange between leading international companies, which enhances clean energy technologies, increases business opportunities, supports technology deployment for power generation in Thailand, and ensures energy security, a good environment, and sustainability for the global climate in the future,” EGAT said.
